Daytime Wedding Receptions

Trust me when I tell you that I have no problem partaking in some night time reception fun, but there is something so classic and invigorating about about attending daytime festivities. From a photographic standpoint, I am literally in heaven with just the right amount of natural light at my fingertips…people look better and the details you’ve worked so hard to incorporate can truly stand out. And aside from my own selfish photography agenda, day time receptions also have other benefits that may fit into your vision:

Serving a brunch or light lunch buffet to your guests is not only chic, but often budget friendly. You can stick to the basics, but food is also another way to highlight your own personalities as well as possibly both you and your partner’s backgrounds and heritages. Ask your caterer about including your absolute favorite foods.

The idea of the signature cocktail is nothing new but is yet another avenue for expression. Feel free to name your own concoction…it’s your day. I like the idea of a Bloody Mary bar, but am also drawn to the many recipes that Champagne or prosecco can lend themselves to. Really, everybody looks classy with a sparkling beverage during the day. Don’t forget about non-alcoholic options.

Time of year can also play a big part depending on what area of the country you are in, so keep that in mind. Summers have longer daylight times and if you happen to be in Phoenix in the “winter,” your guests will certainly appreciate a little afternoon sun on their backs.

Just remember that it is called your wedding DAY…I figure your wedding NIGHT can be reserved for something else.
