    Here’s how we did it:
While we were in Massachusetts we visited the Social Security Office. With only a drivers license (out of state was fine) and our marriage certificate we were able to change my name *federally* as long as we were still in a state where the marriage certificate was recognized. Then when we came back here to AZ all we had to do was show the MVD my new Social Security Card and our marriage license (now needed as proof of REASON for the change, not proof of the change itself). It was really easy! THANK GOD we got overly excited and went to the Social Security Office in MA. It wasn’t part of the plan, but made our lives much easier. . . and saved us the $300 AZ change of name fee. ;)
