Although the price of diamonds has increased across the board, the authoritative IDEX index has shown that in the period from 2005-2007, the average price of a three carat diamond increased by 35%.  A four carat diamond increased on an average of 78% and a five carat diamond increased by 66%.  They expect these prices to continue to rise due to their increasing rarity.  Please review your personal portfolios.  Have you had those type of increases?
