Sweet Treat

Guest blogger :: Gina

I came across these great photos from Melissa Ann Bagley Photography, and love the idea of donuts at a wedding reception.

How great would this spread be? Ditch the cake and have a donut buffet, or wait until the end of the night and put out the treats for guests to take home in little take out containers.

Or have mini donuts passed as after-dessert-after-dancing sweets to refuel.

I love the presentation of these cream puffs and donuts on a bed of jimmies. Lots of unique ideas that you can do yourself.

These donuts came from Donut du Jour, which is based in California, but the goods can be shipped anywhere for your occasion. Put out the milk, coffee and liqueurs, and the donut bar is sure to be a hit.

"Hubby Hubby," We Heart Ben & Jerry's!

Guest Blogger :: Gina

Another reason to love the excellent ice cream team of Ben & Jerry (as if their delicious frozen concoctions weren't enough!). The boys of Vermont have created a new flavor for all citizens to enjoy. Check out their statement below:

In partnership with Freedom to Marry we are gathered here to celebrate Vermont and all the other great states where loving couples of all kinds are free to marry legally. We have ceremoniously dubbed our iconic flavor, Chubby Hubby to Hubby Hubby in support, and to raise awareness of the importance of marriage equality. Check out our press release

If you live in Vermont, or are visiting, you’re invited to celebrate the pride-filled occasion with an all-naturally fabulous union of Peanut Butter Cookie Dough ice cream, fudge and pretzels. Enjoy our Hubby Hubby Sundae for the month of September in participating Vermont Scoop Shops!

How is that for sweet!

Fairytale Wedding Colors: Pink, Black & Silver

Guest Blogger :: Shannon

My favorite color is orange. If you know me, you know I drive a bright orange car and I love it. Erika's favorite color is blue and yes, her car is blue as well. For our wedding we surprised ourselves. We are thinking pink. The funny thing is I’m not a huge fan of pink, but a long time ago we thought pink, black and silver would be fabulous. It has been hard at times to envision those colors together especially because we are not overly “girly”…but wait, before you question it, we are feminine and appreciate being so. So watch it!

Pink: Not baby pink, hot pink, sexy pink, light pink, dark pink, fuchsia, but a beautiful mix of pink that we like to call watermelon. Well, Erika found a piece of this watermelon hued fabric that is A M A Z I N G…

Black: easy. Just the classic and ever-dependable color.

Silver: Not shiny light gray silver, and not dark charcoal gray silver…but silver, like the jewelry. We don’t want silver ribbons, silver curly thingys, just silver accents throughout.

Our fairy tale will be budget-friendly and creative. I’ve received fabulous ideas from friends and family for centerpieces, flowers, cake, décor, table settings, etc. One of my favorite suggestions came from my cousin Lindsey: Utilize the “cake” or cupcakes in our centerpieces and stack the cupcakes on nice trays and then sprinkle the table with edible glitter or flower petals! LOVE IT!

Erika and I get our own small cake with two hot divas on top.

Creation from Deb's Doings

I found some awesome cakes that would look super cute in cupcake form…I am so excited.

The pieces of the puzzle are beginning to form. Hmmmm....what will our fairy tale look like?

Think pink!
